Cathedral of Light
Inside St. Mary’s Cathedral, designed by modernist master Kenzo Tange, eight soaring hyperbolic paraboloid concrete shells sweep upward from an octagonal floor plan to form a luminous cruciform ceiling. Diffused natural daylight pours down raw, board-formed concrete surfaces, casting dramatic spiritual geometry across the central nave and red altar carpet.
